Eszenan San Frantzisko agertzen zaigu, ordenaren abitua jantzita eta paisaia-hondoan, estigmatizazioa jasan zuen unean bertan, Kristoren zauriak eskuetan eta oinetan erakutsiz. Aingeru bat dator haren bizkarretik hari eustera, santuak oreka galtzen duen unean. Eszenaren ezkerraldeko arroka baten gainean, burezurra eta gurutzea daude, penitentziaren sinbolo gisa.

En la escena se nos muestra a San Francisco, vestido con el hábito de la orden y sobre un fondo de paisaje, justo en el momento de haber sufrido la estigmatización, mostrando las llagas de Cristo en manos y pies. Un ángel acude por su espalda a sostenerle en el instante en el que santo pierde el equilibrio. Sobre una roca de la parte izquerda de la escena reposan la calavera y el crucifijo, como símbolos de la penitencia.

The scene shows Saint Francis, dressed in the habit of the order and against a landscape background, just as he has suffered the stigmata, displaying the wounds of Christ on his hands and feet. An angel rushes up behind him to support him at the moment when the saint loses his balance. On a rock on the left side of the scene rest the skull and crucifix, symbols of penitence.
