eu Santiagoren martirioaren unea antzezten da eszenan, Herodes Agripa I.a erregearen aginduz (Hechos, 12: 1-2). Konposizioaren ardatza apostoluaren irudiak markatzen du. Begirada apalduta eta besoak bular biluziaren gainean gurutzatuta, bere patua bakean onartzen du. Borreroak ezpata altxatu du, eta horrekin amaituko du santuaren bizitza. Ezkerraldean, hiru soldadu elkarrekin hizketan ari direla dirudi. Atzealdean, eskuinean, zaldi gainean dauden pertsonaia ezberdinak ikusten dira. Euren artean, Herodes Agripa erregearen irudia nabarmentzen da.
es Se representa en la escena el momento del martirio de Santiago por orden del rey Herodes Agripa I (Hechos, 12:1-2). El eje de la composición lo marca la figura del apóstol que, con la mirada baja y los brazos cruzados sobre su pecho desnudo, acepta en paz su destino. El verdugo ya ha alzado la espada con la que va a acabar con la vida del santo. En el lado izquierdo, tres soldados parecen conversar entre ellos. Al fondo, a la derecha, se ven distintos personajes a caballo, destacando entre ellos la figura coronadala del Rey Herodes Agripa.
en The scene depicts the moment of the martyrdom of James by order of King Herod Agrippa I (Acts 12:1-2). The central focus of the composition is the figure of the apostle, who, with his gaze lowered and his arms crossed over his bare chest, peacefully accepts his fate. The executioner has already raised the sword with which he will end the saint&#39,s life. On the left side, three soldiers appear to be conversing among themselves. In the background, on the right, various figures can be seen on horseback, among them the crowned figure of King Herod Agrippa.
